HOLY MOLY, NEW ANTENNA IS UP!
In 2022, our antenna was found to be rusted through at the base, and had to be taken down before it took itself down. It was a good antenna, it had lasted us through several hurricanes.
We had backburner plans to move our transmitter equipment to the Tulane tidewater building on Canal St. This would give us better coverage to many areas of the city, notably areas east of Canal St., while likely still keeping roughly the same reach. Fun fact, WWOZ's antenna also broadcasts out of this building, though at a much higher wattage than we're rated for. Since we found ourselves in need of a new antenna, this was the time to make that move. However, this would require many hoops to be jumped, including plenty of FCC filings and red tape, and the surprise of this antenna situation meant we couldn't plan in advance.
